Warren County MODOC Transfers
No state prison was found within Warren County during the completed facility sweep. Missouri Department of Corrections institutions form a statewide sentenced-prison system. When Warren County Jail delivers a sentenced person to MODOC, the event is a transfer. It ends county custody but does not release the person from confinement. Confirm the county movement destination, then match the state intake using DOC ID, cause number, sentence county, and identity details.
A later movement from a prison into parole or conditional release can place the person in the community while MODOC legal authority continues. Final discharge occurs only when the sentence and any state supervision end. Do not collapse county transfer, prison release, active field supervision, and final discharge into one “released” label.
| Stage | Status | Primary proof |
|---|---|---|
| County-to-MODOC transfer | Custody continues | County movement and MODOC intake |
| Institution assignment | In state prison | Active Offender Search |
| Field supervision | Outside prison under active authority | Active search and District 16 confirmation |
| Final discharge | State authority completed | Sunshine data or discharge record |
Search Active Missouri Releases
The official MODOC Offender Search covers active offenders, including people in institutions, on parole, and on active probation. Enter first and last name; the system states that aliases are included. Open the detail only after comparing identifiers. An assignment to an institution differs from a field assignment. The search is updated nightly, yet its warning says status may not be current, so urgent questions require agency confirmation.
- Search the exact name and check alias-aware results.
- Compare DOC ID, cause number, sentence county, and other available identifiers.
- Read the assignment or location function. Institution and field records mean different forms of state control.
- Review the sentence information without treating a minimum date as a guaranteed movement date.
- Confirm a time-sensitive prison release or field status with MODOC or the listed supervision office.
The active search is not the route for an ordinary Warren County bond-out unless the person independently has an active DOC case. It also expressly excludes discharged-offender information. A no-result can reflect discharge, spelling, alias, timing, a county-only case, or no MODOC connection.
Find Missouri Final Discharge
For current and former offenders, use MODOC’s Sunshine Law page and nightly dataset. The compressed file includes one row per charge, so all rows tied to the same DOC ID must be reconciled. Useful identifiers include cause number, offense county `WARR`, sentence county, assigned place, and completed flag. A `Y` completed flag is sentence-level evidence. It should not be read in isolation if other sentence rows remain incomplete.
The verified field names include `Sentence Maximum Release Date` and `Sentence-I Minimum Release Date`. Those values describe sentence computation. They are not necessarily the date the person left a particular institution, and sentinel values must be decoded rather than printed as real dates. A focused request should seek institutional release, conditional release or parole, location history, supervision end, and final discharge separately.
- Parole
- Release from prison into community supervision while legal custody continues.
- Conditional release
- A supervised release portion governed by the sentence framework.
- Field assignment
- An active community-supervision placement, not final discharge.
- Final discharge
- The documented end of MODOC sentence and supervision authority.
Missouri Corrections Release Records
Use DOC ID as the main identifier because it is lifelong and separates people with similar names. Ask for releasable release, conditional-release, parole, supervision, and final-discharge records sufficient to identify the date and type of institutional departure and the date supervision ended. Request relevant movement history and release or discharge orders. Electronic delivery and a pre-cost estimate keep the scope clear.

Sunshine request information
Section 217.075 makes DOC offender records public under chapter 610 except personal medical history, records otherwise closed by law, and internal institutional-security reports. Direct a Board schedule or decision request to the Board address, not Warren County Sheriff. Direct a prison release and final-discharge request to MODOC. The sheriff can document the earlier county transfer but cannot establish the later statewide discharge.
Warren MODOC Field Releases
Warren County is served by Probation and Parole District 16 in Union rather than a county office in Warrenton. The official District 16 page expressly names Warren and describes its probation and parole caseload. An active field result can be confirmed through that office to the extent status is releasable.

Probation and parole are not interchangeable. Probation is a court-ordered community disposition and may occur without prison. Parole follows release from a prison while the person stays under MODOC legal custody. An active field assignment supports supervision, not the precise prison-exit time and not final discharge. Use Board or DOC release records for the release action and District 16 for current supervision confirmation.
Interpret Missouri Release Dates
A sentence minimum, maximum, parole eligibility point, hearing date, future release date, institutional departure, and final discharge are distinct. The research did not support inventing a “Projected Release Date” label on the active-search landing page. Use the verified field names from the Sunshine documentation and explain their limits.
Dates can change meaning across concurrent or consecutive sentences, credits, Board action, court orders, and multiple charge rows. A calculated minimum does not promise release. A future date does not prove the person has left. The actual release record documents movement; the completed status and discharge materials document the end of authority.
Warren MODOC Dataset Fields
The current/former-offender file must be read at charge level. `Assigned Place` and its location function distinguish an institution code from a field code. A field record supports active community supervision, not final discharge. `Completed Flag = Y` concerns one sentence row. Reconcile every relevant row tied to the DOC ID before saying that state authority ended. Cause number, offense county `WARR`, sentence county, and assigned place help separate similarly named people and connect the state record to the Warren County case.
| MODOC field | Careful interpretation |
|---|---|
| DOC ID | Lifelong identifier used to match all rows |
| Assigned Place / function | Institution or field-supervision context |
| Completed Flag | Completion evidence for that sentence row |
| Sentence-I Minimum Release Date | Calculated sentence minimum, not a guaranteed gate date |
| Sentence Maximum Release Date | Maximum or expiration field requiring sentence context |
If the active search returns no result for a person known to have entered MODOC, test several explanations before calling it discharge. Recheck spelling, aliases, DOC ID, and timing. Review the historical file and Case.net. A county-only case may have no MODOC record at all. Only a completed flag, discharge record, or other official completion evidence tied to the right DOC ID supports final-discharge language.
Sentinel dates in the dataset are codes and must not be printed as ordinary calendar dates. Multiple concurrent or consecutive sentences can also make one row misleading. Preserve the file date, field definitions, and all matched rows with the research note so the conclusion can be checked later.
A county cause number helps connect the state rows to the correct Warren prosecution. Where several rows conflict, seek the MODOC release or discharge record rather than selecting the most convenient date. The agency record can distinguish institutional departure from the later end of supervision.
Warren State Prison Limits
No local MODOC prison was identified in Warren County. Do not present the county jail as a state prison or route a county bond release through the DOC search. Conversely, once a county record proves transfer into MODOC, the statewide system becomes the correct custodian for prison release, supervision, and discharge records.
MOVANS can add a custody notification from a participating provider. Case.net can explain the sentence and later court entries. The county movement record documents the handoff. The Warren County custody search helps identify the last system when the record trail begins with a local booking.
Note: Use “finally discharged from MODOC” only when a completed or discharge source tied to the correct DOC ID supports it.
