Warren County Jail Release Routes
Leaving Warren County Jail is a movement event, but it is not always a community release. A person can leave after posting bond, receiving recognizance, being issued a summons, completing a local term, or receiving a court order. Another person may leave the same building in a transport vehicle bound for a Missouri Department of Corrections institution, another county, federal custody, or another agency named in the record. The jail movement entry should identify the actual time, release or transfer type, authority, and destination when maintained and releasable.
The sheriff’s weekly arrest reports help locate the correct booking. They include a booking number, arrest agency, an “Agency Held For” field, charges, and bond vocabulary. Yet they are arrest reports, not release records. `BONDED`, `RECOG`, or `SUMMONS` can explain a possible route out. A separate warrant, hold, or other-agency interest can still prevent a walk-out. The county’s Jail Info page does not supply an actual release-time field or a released-person view.
| Movement | What it means | Best proof |
|---|---|---|
| Bond or recognizance | The local hold may end while the case continues. | Jail movement record plus court docket |
| Time served or court order | The stated custodial basis ends, subject to other holds. | Executed jail release entry and court order |
| MODOC transfer | County custody ends, but state custody continues. | Jail destination and MODOC intake record |
| Other-agency transfer | The person changes custodians rather than returning home. | Sending and receiving agency records |
Confirm a Warren Jail Release
Start with identity. A booking number is safer than a name alone because it ties the request to one intake. Preserve the report dates, booking date, arrest agency, charge, bond notation, and “Agency Held For” value. Then use the local jail, court, state, and notification channels in the order that fits the facts. The Warren County released-inmate search path explains the wider record trail when the last custodian is uncertain.
- Open the relevant weekly arrest PDF from the sheriff’s Jail Info page and record the booking number. Do not treat the report week as a release window.
- Call the Warren County Sheriff at 636-456-4332. Ask whether the person physically ceased to be held, the actual date and time, the basis, and any receiving agency.
- Search Missouri Case.net for the matching Warren County case. A docket may explain bond, dismissal, sentence, warrant, probation, or an order.
- Check MOVANS offender search if a participating provider may have posted a custody change. Confirm any alert with the provider named on the record.
- If the jail reports a state transfer, use the MODOC active Offender Search. An institutional result means custody continued.
Warren Jail Release Records
Ask for both the release and movement record. That wording matters. A request limited to “release” could miss a transfer that ended Warren County custody but began custody elsewhere. Identify the person, booking number, and approximate dates. Request the booking date and time, actual time the person ceased to be held, release or movement type, authority, bond or recognizance details, holds, and receiving agency or destination. Electronic delivery and a cost estimate can keep the request narrow.

No dedicated Sunshine request form, request email, fee schedule, or records-unit hours were identified in the official channel sweep. The sheriff’s general contact form is not described as a formal records portal. Ask the main office to identify the current custodian and accepted submission method. Under Missouri §610.023, the custodian must act as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day, though a supported delay can extend production. That rule is a response deadline, not a promise that the record arrives in three days.
About Warren County Jail
Warren County Jail is the county’s primary detention facility and is operated by the Warren County Sheriff’s Department at the county justice complex in Warrenton. It holds people at several procedural stages, including recent arrestees, defendants awaiting court action, and people serving or awaiting disposition on local matters. Municipal police agencies may make the arrest, while the county jail becomes the booking and confinement custodian. That distinction is why the arresting department and the release-record holder may not be the same office.
The capacity figure comes from current sheriff material. Older sources may refer to a roughly 150-bed operation or describe an earlier building. Those differences do not prove that multiple county jails exist. They reflect a long facility history and changes to the justice complex. The current identifying facts are the sheriff operator, the Main Street complex, and the 156-person capacity statement after renovation.
Warren Jail History and Releases
Official Warren County sheriff history traces detention from a 12-bed sheriff office and jail built in 1908. The old courthouse and jail were demolished in 1995. A combined courthouse and justice center, described as a $6.5 million project, opened in late 1997. Current sheriff material then reports a 2019 renovation and the present 156-person capacity.
This history is more than local color. It explains why old directories and third-party descriptions may give a different capacity, call the site a correctional facility, or describe a former structure. Use the current sheriff sources when identifying the custodian for a modern release. Use the booking date and number to anchor a request to the correct era and record system.
The official sheriff history is shown in the matching image below. It documents the facility lineage, but it does not show an individual’s custody status.
Release proof still comes from the individual movement record, not from a building description or capacity figure.
Read Warren Jail Release Fields
Each field answers a different question. The booking number connects the person to one jail intake. Arrest agency names who made the arrest, not necessarily who held or released the person. “Agency Held For” warns that another authority may affect the outcome. Bond language describes a legal or financial event. It does not supply the physical departure time. The destination field, when available, separates community release from transfer.
- Release
- The documented end of a particular custodial hold.
- Transfer
- Movement to a new custodian while confinement continues.
- Recognizance
- Release based on a promise to appear rather than posted money.
- Detainer
- A request or notice that another authority may take or retain custody.
A Case.net order is strong evidence of legal authority, but it may not show when jail staff executed it. MOVANS can add a timely provider update. A receiving-agency intake can prove that a county exit was a transfer. Read those pieces together. State “left Warren County Jail” only when a movement source supports it, and add “to the community” only after another custody path has been ruled out.
Warren Release Archive Limits
The researched official channels did not reveal a current roster, released-person tab, 24-hour or 72-hour release list, public release-processing schedule, property-return rule, weekend policy, family waiting point, shuttle, or county good-time policy. This is a bounded finding from the July 27, 2026 review. It does not mean the sheriff lacks an internal ledger or unpublished procedure. It means a reader should not be sent to a button that was not found.
The weekly PDFs rotate on the landing page, while some older direct links remain indexed. Save the exact report link and booking number when found. If the file later drops from the landing page, that change says only that the web page rotated. Direct contact and a narrow Sunshine request remain the correct paths to the actual Warren County Jail release record.
Note: Confirm time-sensitive release status directly with the jail and any receiving agency named in the movement record.
